About Amber

Hi 🙂

Hellooo, I’m Amber (she/her). I’m a 23 y/o British/Irish gal. I live in Sheffield, am originally from Scunthorpe, but grew up in Notts (UK).

I’m a lover of tea, peanut butter, dark chocolate, the countryside, being outdoors, dog walking, the peak district, coffee and cake.

I’m a swimmer (GBR), a PhD student (Chemical Engineering), and a human bean attempting to be a little more open about my own mental health struggles in sport and life. I hope to help other sufferers to feel less alone, and to provide awareness and understanding to people who might not have experienced the same struggles.

Why start this blog?

To raise awareness of eating disorders in sport.

To be honest and open, and encourage to do the same. Too often athletes are expected to keep their struggles to themselves.

To help others feel less alone

To educate (myself) and others on the effects of ED, and hopefully enable people to recognise warning signs earlier.
